Although we now build our guitars and ukuleles with Ekoa®, we are still proud of our carbon fiber heritage! Here are a few pictures of our instruments from yesteryear for your reference - scroll down for specs!

Blackbird Ukulele (BTU)

The Blackbird tenor ukulele or BTU is a carbon fiber, lightweight, tonally-satisfying ukulele immune to the humidity problems that impact wooden ukuleles. With a proprietary hollow-neck and durable all-carbon fiber construction, you will find an exceptionally loud and rich sounding instrument that is as responsive as it is resilient. The Blackbird tenor ukulele will inspire you to play music places you would never with a nice wood instrument - like the beach, mountains, or desert.

Blackbird Rider Steel String

Whether you are trekking, sailing, on stage or in the studio, the Blackbird Rider performs and is the best travel acoustic made. The resonance-driven design features a proprietary hollow neck and head, one–piece carbon fiber construction, providing a seemingly physics-defying, full and balanced tone with strong bass, clear mids and crystalline trebles as well as uncanny sustain. Leave your nice wooden guitar at home because the big sound, small body Rider is nearly indestructible, unaffected by humidity, ultra-light, and compact— but has full-size loudness and richness.

The Blackbird Rider Nylon's one-piece, carbon fiber construction with hollow head, neck and body allows the entire guitar to resonate—–enhancing loudness, bass and sustain. You will never again face humidity or durability issues with the Rider carbon fiber nylon string guitar. With the optional Neck-up guitar accessory, your Rider is securely anchored– no footstool required! Plug it in and the optional MiSi or RMC individual string pickups accurately amplify your dynamic acoustic tone.

Lucky 13

The Blackbird Lucky 13's proprietary hollow-neck, and uni-body carbon fiber construction provides a blend of powerful projection of a lightly built boutique guitar with the ruggedness of a carbon fiber guitar. The comfortable size belies tremendous frequency range and dynamics affording you a rare tonal versatility perfect for both fingerstyle and flat-picking.

Blackbird Super OM

We appreciate powerful, big guitars like dreadnoughts but they are cumbersome. The Blackbird Super Orchestra Model has a cannon voice with dreadnought volume and fullness but is compact and 3D sculpted with body cuts for enhanced comfort and playability. The tone goes above and beyond convention with uncommon sustain, perfect clarity and string balance the length of the fretboard. The OM’s power and clarity is born from Blackbird’s holistic approach to maximizing resonance: a proprietary hollow neck and head carbon-fiber uni-body construction, asymmetric design with off-set sound hole, as well as a head and body sound port. It’s also among the lightest guitars in the world which further helps produce a tone that evokes a custom wooden instrument, but this acoustic is nearly indestructible and impervious.
